REVIEW: Disney On Ice: 100 Years of Magic
Everything Winnipeg had the pleasure to attend opening night of ‘Disney on Ice: 100 Years of Magic’ last night at Bell MTS Place. First and foremost, I would of course say that this is a family event mostly geared towards younger children, but that shouldn’t stop the older teens / adults from attending. There’s just something about the power of Disney that pulls you right back into feeling like a child all over again. Watching some of my favourite Disney characters skate for 2 hours while singing along to my favourite Disney tunes was a joy.
The show is split into two halves spanning about an hour each. The show touches every major Disney character and tune spanning from:
Mickey & Minnie Mouse
Donald & Goofy
Frozen characters Elsa / Anna and the whole crew
I will say this about the show, Disney on Ice knows where to emphasize the bulk of its time and features to its more popular characters. I grew up in the 90s with Toy Story, Aladdin and The Lion King and while those characters are in there, the majority of the show is focused on the critically acclaimed FROZEN! I could just hear the crowd just humming and singing along when Elsa came out with “Let it Go”. The Lion King equally had as loud as a roar from the older crowd when it came on.
Overall, if you and the family are looking for something to do this weekend, you should not hesitate to take them to this fun family event! Whether you have young children or are a grown adult, come and sing along to your favourite Disney songs and see your favourite characters on ice!
Everything Winnipeg Score: 8/10
Thank you to Karen I. for allowing us to be there on opening night!
